If I was a part of Greek mythology, I'm sure I would have been part magpie because I absolutely adore sparkly, shiny things.
And for the past two years I've been obsessed with gold, if you're familiar with Pakistani culture you know our brides are decked out head to hand (fun fact: in my family, women do not wear gold anklets - hence no toes); our baby girls are gifted gold jewelry; and if it ain't 24 karat, it ain't the real deal. So my infatuation with bling (much like Ryan Gosling's infatuation with his new baby) was inevitable...
...but I am a very irresponsible person and despite my best efforts to be careful, I tend to lose jewelry left and right. Last year I lost a pair of diamond earrings my husband had gifted me along with an Hermés bracelet (I am sure they were stolen because everything else is exactly where I packed it) while I was in the UK for a family wedding. I have also misplaced my original engagement ring (fun fact: my mother-in-law actually gave me huge gold earrings as an engagement present when my wedding date was fixed in lieu of a ring - my husband actually gave me my ring along with my wedding band at my wedding!), and I have also misplaced the replacement ring.
So basically, I am not great with jewelry. My need for shiny, sparkly things is therefore satiated in my clothes and since it's not always an appropriate outfit choice, I save it for my birthday.
And what's a birthday without a couple of outfit changes?

I think I prefer myself in silver over gold, but since I've steadily built up a gold embellished wardrobe, I'm hesitant to switch metals - and I am very adverse to mixing metals. I hate mixing gold with rose gold, or gold with silver - the only exception is my wedding ring and (new) replacement engagement ring.
I think it will take a while for me to cross over, but I'm determined to document it via my blog when I do.
