I consider myself to be a pretty trendy person, but Spring's Bohemian, Festival, and 70s inspired looks have left me uninspired. I realize fashion houses recycle and rehash trends over and over again but I don't want to do that with my personal style. I like to evolve.
I've done the Hollister mini-skirts and button downs with argyle sweaters. And knee-highs (Cher Horowitz was an idol, growing up). I've done cowboy (girl?) boots and prairie skirts from Anna Sui. I've been taught by Yeezy and bemoaned Saint Laurent without Yves.
So, I'm going back to basics. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has replaced pants with tights, although I have been slowly reintroducing jeans in to my wardrobe. And I've invested in a few white shirts - button downs and tees. This way I can fall back on a pop-of-color.
I wore a pair of leggings - always buy them from Forever 21 (or H&M) with this old, white button down. I like to buy them a little oversized because while leggings are everything, they really aren't pants and I'm not trying to be Lindsay Lohan circa 2010. During the Christmas sales, I happened to find this highlighter yellow coat at H&M for $30 and I've been waiting for temperatures to become bearable enough for a "lighter" coat...and these awesome silver loafers from ZARA. I've been waiting forever to wear them but because I wear a lot of gold accents, I just couldn't fit them in a look (I personally can NOT mix metallics, I find it very wrong). Also, I didn't want to freeze my toes off.
I avoid carrying big bags when I know I'll be running errands or shopping but this Alexander Wang Emile is light enough to carry around and stash small packages in.
Slight gripe about ZARA shoes - yes, they are cute; stylish; and reasonably priced but they are so incredibly painful it feels like a punishment from the Fashion Gods for buying "plagiarized" designs.
